I’m Shaun, founder of The Surrogacy Father, and this is our gay surrogacy story. I’m a proud dad to three children, all born through egg donation and surrogacy. Like many intended parents, my partner Paul and I started with more questions than answers. At first, we didn’t know where to begin, who to trust or what challenges might lie ahead.
Our journey wasn’t simple, because all three of our children were born by emergency C-section and our boys spent time in NICU. Even so, the moment we held our children, we knew every step had been worth it.
I founded The Surrogacy Father to give other parents the support we wished for at the start: clear, honest guidance from someone who has lived through surrogacy. I’m independent of any clinic, agency or law firm, so my role is simply to walk beside you with honesty and real-world experience.
In addition to being a dad, I’m a clinical pharmacist with a Master’s degree and postgraduate training at University College London and King’s College London. I spent more than a decade at one of London’s leading teaching hospitals, and I remain active in clinical practice today.
As a result, safety, transparency and compassion guide every conversation I have with intended parents. However, I don’t give medical or legal advice on your case; instead, I help you prepare for the specialists who do.
Beyond one-to-one support, I also write guides to make surrogacy easier to understand:

Today, The Surrogacy Father supports intended parents across the UK, Ireland, Europe and beyond. Over the years, I’ve also got to know clinics, agencies, lawyers, cryo-shipping providers and donor banks in many countries.
As a result, that knowledge helps me ask the right questions on your behalf and spot red flags early. Ultimately, though, every decision stays with you.
Despite the professional work, I’m still a dad who remembers longing for a child and wondering if the dream would ever come true.
